Skin Care

Pigmentation

More commonly known as sun spots or age spots, clusters of dark or light brown patches are most commonly found on hands, chest, face and neck. These are evidence of UV damage caused by increased sun damage.  These can show years after the sun damage has been done, difficult to cover up, these can be targeted by a  laser treatment course to fade away.

How does Pigmentation removal work?
Short pulses of light are absorbed by the high melanin quantity found in pigmentation. These light pulses in turn heat the melanin, destroying melanin rich cells. The bodies natural healing is triggered to produce the growth of new, healthy tissue.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on the type and/or size of the pigmented lesion. Typically 3-6 sessions are advised. Your treatment will be carried out as a course 4-6 weeks apart, top up sessions may be required, usually once or twice a year.
What does the laser treatment feel like?
Most patients describe the feeling as a mild or tolerable discomfort and no anaesthesia is required.
Who is suitable for this treatment?
We always recommend a consultation prior to determine your suitability, generally no sun tan should be present nor exposure to sun at least 4 weeks before treatment. The pigment that responds best are those caused by sun damage/overexposure.

Carbon Facial

Stress, Fatigue, sun, ageing and the environment all contribute to lacklustre skin that just needs rejuvenating. Whilst our regular facials keep skin deep cleaned the carbon facial takes skin care to a whole new level. Fresh, invigorated, plump and brought back to life, this treatment visibly de ages, de stresses says bye bye to wrinkles and dullness and hello to collagen growing youthfulness.

How does a carbon laser facial work?
A layer of liquid carbon is applied which penetrates deep into the the skins surface. Laser light pulses blast the carbon away creating a more even and youthful complexion. The laser pulses stimulate fibroblast cells creating collagen and elastin production.
How many sessions will I need?
Results can be seen after a few treatments, a course of 3-6 treatments are advised carried out every 4-6 weeks. Top ups are performed as required, usually once or twice a year.
What does the treatment feel like?
Most describe the discomfort as moderate and acceptable, feeling warm and like a quick pinprick. No anaesthesia is required.
This treatment is also ideal for:
Reducing excess oil and sebum, Refining and minimising enlarged pores, managing pigmentation damage, Reducing active acne

Fungal Nail

Fungal infections on the nails occur through a variety of reasons most commonly through sports where feet are constantly warm or damp, or by water getting under nail polishes and extensions.  Over the counter remedies can take over 12 months to cure the infection but often are ineffective and GP medications often come with side effects.  If the nail is not treated effectively it may need to be removed completely.  Laser treatment is the most convenient and effective way to eradicate fungal infections plus all nails on the hand or foot are treated to avoid spreading.

How does the laser work?
Light is absorbed by the water underneath and around the nail, creating heat to eliminate the fungal infection. The entire nail bed and matrix is treated by placing the laser applicator onto the nail emitting short pulses of light.
How many sessions will I need?
Typically 3-6 treatments may be required, though these vary. Results become apparent as the nail grows, due to the slow rate of toenail growth it may take several months for results to be seen.
What does the treatment feel like?
A warm sensation and some discomfort may be felt and skin cooling may be used to minimise this and make the treatment more comfortable.
Who is suitable for the treatment?
Most people are suitable, we recommend the nail is filed down to allow the laser penetration, please book a consultation to ascertain your suitability.
